Textile Thursdays!

Liberty of London!

Today's textile comes from Liberty of London.  I so admire their history and dedication to the craft of textiles, luxury, and inspirational design. Arthur Liberty basically traveled the world looking for inspiration for beautiful things, and eventually said "Hey, I can do this myself", and in 1874 created Liberty of London fabrics and home wares with an emphasis on luxury, and inspired from the things he found on his travels. The history is pretty amazing and you can read the full story here.

I chose a piece that has always inspired me with its bright bold colors, and beautiful contrast. I'm taking a liking to florals once again, not swayed by the notion that they can only be for 1990's little girls bedding.

Beautiful! Were seeing this idea creep up in everything from blazers to loafers, to cropped pants this season- loving it.

In other news, we leave for California in less than a week! I am (so) excited. Nothing says vacation like working 6 days in a row then leaving on a jet plane.

Have a lovely day!

Mothers.

I am blessed to have a few great women in my life. Quite a few. Most of them mothers, some of them grandmothers, sisters, aunts. This weekend was a new kind of mothers day for me in the sense that I am now technically a mother myself (although I haven't done any of the really hard work yet). It made me appreciate my own Mother, and my mother in-law so much more, just knowing the love that I have for this little person inside of me, I now more closely understand the love that she has always expressed to me, and my mother in-law to Connor.

I went to celebrate at Mother's (how perfect) Bistro, downtown with my grandma and my mom. It was so cool to have (almost) 4 generations represented. 2 years ago, for Mother's day, I had our friend Jay take some pictures of the three of us. They so perfectly sum up how incredible a family lineage is.

Happiest of Mothers Days to all you mammas out there.

Textile Thursdays

I am so excited to announce Textile Thursdays! As a textile artist, and enthusiast, I just can't help but fall in love with all things fiber related. Pattern, texture, and line have so much to do with the things that we use and experience in our everyday lives, and I find this journey to be pretty inspiring. Makes me want to own a floor loom. Le sigh.

Anywho, to start us off, I of course had to pick a print from my favorite textile mill, from my home state of Oregon- Pendleton Woolen Mills.  Pendleton has been inspiring us for more than 140 years (!), and has recently had a resurgence of young followers stemming both from vintage clothing, and Pendleton's newest venture- The Portland Collection. Which, if you haven't checked out their collection from last year, or their 2012 look book, you are doing yourself a serious disservice.

Today's textile is the Yellowstone National Park Blanket.

Classic.
This beauty is part of their National Parks series, a series dedicated to America's National parks, that they've been doing since about 1900. Pretty cool, and pretty inspiring.

Have a wonderful Thursday!!

A little announcement...

If you can't tell by the look on Connor's face, or by my big belly, we're welcoming baby #1 into the world this October!! We are so so excited.  I think when you find out your pregnant, you go through so many emotions (well, duh). From excited, to anxious, to "Okay, phew this is the start of a totally new life. Life as I knew it is about to change." It can be a little daunting. But then I think about the total and awe-inspiring blessing it is to think that "Hey, we are trusted enough to raise a person and teach them the way to go in this world."Its a pretty cool thing. Everyone has been so supportive and sweet. Thank you! We haven't found out the gender yet- the first week in June!

PS- Like our announcement? I wanted to do a little something different than what I've seen before. And, photo booths have always been a special way for Connor and I to document our time together- our "Save the Dates" were done in a photo booth, and we always go and take one on each anniversary :)

We now have 4 photo booth strips! Its so fun to see the progression. I'll post them this week.

Fill in the Blank Friday!

1.  My bedtime routine includes,   getting ready for bed, joking around with Connor, kissing Tino goodnight and taking off his collar..I know we spoil our dog, its sad. Talking and laughing, then falling asleep   .

2.   I am   pretty tired lately. This weather we've been having has been a real drag. BUT Connor and I have a date day Monday, and its supposed to be 80 degrees! Booya!    .

3.  I can't stand     pickled anything       because     that smell, it just gets to me. Plus who wants to eat something thats been rotting in its own juices? Not this girl  .

4. My idea of relaxation would be   A perfect cup of coffee early on a sunny morning, with a blanket and a magazine on a front porch with my hubs.

5. If I had an extra $50, I would    Go on a date out to a fun restaurant,or maybe buy some new picture frames to redecorate.

6. The best thing about a bloggy friend is      Well so far I only have a few since I'm new to the bloggy thing, but I always love good community, and thats what I sense comes from these experiences, which I love.

7.  A recipe I've been dying to try is   a good drink recipe. I've never really made nice cocktails at home for myself, and I'd love to get really good at it so I can use that skill in entertaining.

Have the best weekend, and happy Cinco De Mayo!!!
